Cold Warrior is a meditative and spastic “soundtrack to your life” that debuts the transportive electro-acoustic sound of West Philadelphia’s Grandchildren. Driven by textured sample-based beats, drenched in choir-like vocal harmonies, and held together with an acoustic backbone, the 5 song EP offers the thrust of dance with the body and flow of an orchestral epic, conjuring traces of TV On the Radio, Animal Collective, and old-school Michael Jackson. The recording is an amalgamation of recordings made in various locations over a period of a year, interwoven with at times sentimental and ultimately uplifting melodies. The music hijacks neurons and conjures up discarded memories from every region of the brain, from the primal, to the mathematical, to the nostalgic, and won’t let go.

“Their energy-filled set of melodic, experimental pop flew by and before I knew it they were done. I really enjoyed it. For me they hit a sweet spot between the experimental and the accessible. I’d recommend seeing these guys.
